Beginner Kinusaiga (Japanese Fabric Quilting) - Tuesday, June 16th | 6:30pm

Discover the quiet art of Kinusaiga - a Japanese-inspired fiber art technique often described as “patchwork without sewing.” Originally created as a way to repurpose kimono scraps, Kinusaiga transforms fabric into beautifully detailed artwork by carefully tucking pieces of fabric into etched designs to create texture, dimension, and layered color.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn the basics of traditional Kinusaiga techniques including fabric placement, trimming, layering, and clean edge finishing while creating your own 5.5" x 5.5" design from our library of patterns. Your finished piece will be displayed in an 8" x 8" shadow box frame, ready to hang or display at home.

No experience is needed and all supplies are provided. This relaxed class is perfect for anyone who enjoys working with color, texture, and slow, thoughtful creativity.

Snacks & Sips: Feel free to bring your favorite snacks and drinks to enjoy while you create. The Studio is BYOB for guests 21+.

Parking: On street meter parking is available on Elizabeth Ave. Free on street parking is available on Chelsea Ave. Free lot parking is located behind the building.

Locating the Studio:  We suggest entering the building from Ruch St. entrance (the back of the building). Use the elevator directly inside the building to the right. This is the only elevator that will take you to the 4th floor. If you enter the building from Elizabeth Ave, and take the elevator in the hallway, please note that the elevator only goes to the 3rd floor.
